President’s Message May 2008
April was a busy month, full of
interesting and fun ASG activities. I attended the regional meeting April 4-5
in Salem, Oregon, where I met our Region 4 Representative, Lynn Weglarz, and
many chapter presidents and members from throughout the northwest. Our chapter
retreat the following weekend was a chance to relax, sew all day, and enjoy the
sunny weather on the shores of Hood Canal. The Spring Sew Sampler on April 19
showcased the considerable talents of five of our chapter members, making for an
enjoyable and inspirational day. Thanks to all who worked so hard to put these
wonderful events together.
I attended the Seattle chapter’s spring
event, featuring Diane Erickson, on May 17, where I received more creative
inspiration. Remember to check out the Seattle and Olympia chapter websites (seattleasg.org
and asgolympia.org) to see what they have scheduled for upcoming events. Our
chapter member Connie Crawford will be presenting a 2-day fitting workshop for
the Olympia chapter November 1-2 in Tacoma.
Coming up is the national conference in
Chicago July 10-14, where we will celebrate ASG’s 30th birthday.
Advance registration ends June 6, so sign up as soon as possible if you plan to
attend.
It is time again to plan for the election
of next year’s Chapter Advisory Board members. Please consider running for one
of the five elective offices or volunteering for one of the appointed
positions. It is very important to have all these positions filled. Having a
complete board ensures that the chapter is able to provide the very best
services to our members.
If you have any community service hours to
report, let me know so that I can submit them to National in June. And, if you
have completed any Anti-Ouch Pouches (our national community service project),
get them to me so I can mail them in mid-June.
